Which Pick'em Apps Void Injured Players?

How Payday Fantasy, PrizePicks, Underdog, Sleeper, Betr, ParlayPlay and DraftKings Pick6 handle a player who gets hurt and leaves the game early.

The short answer: most big pick'em apps now void or refund a pick when a player leaves injured in the first half and doesn't come back. The details differ: which side of the pick is covered, which sports count, and what happens to the rest of your entry. On Payday Fantasy, any projection the player hadn't reached yet is voided for both MORE and LESS picks, and the rest of your entry plays on.

How Payday handles an injured player

Payday's Voided Picks Policy covers injuries during active play that are beyond the player's or team's control. It doesn't cover players who are benched, rested or ejected.

  • When it applies: the player leaves injured in the 1st half (1st period in the NHL) and doesn't return at any point.
  • Already Determined Rule: stats the player already reached stand. If he had 10 points when he left, picks at 9.5 stay live for both MORE and LESS. Projections he hadn't reached yet are voided for both sides.
  • Sports: NFL (offensive players and kickers, not preseason), NBA and WNBA, NHL, soccer (subbed off injured in the 1st half), MLB (a batter with fewer than 2 plate appearances or a pitcher with fewer than 45 pitches, for injury or weather delay), and listed players in college football and college basketball. Counter-Strike 2 and MMA have no injury void.
  • Not covered: partial-game projections such as 1Q, 1H, 2H, periods and F5, and live picks made after the void window for that sport.
  • Your entry: after a void, the entry is rechecked. It needs picks on at least 2 players from at least 2 teams. If it no longer qualifies, the whole entry is voided and the entry fee is refunded.

The big difference: MORE vs LESS

Most of these programs protect only More (or Higher) picks. If you took Less on a player who gets hurt, your pick usually wins on his final stats. On Payday, the Already Determined Rule treats both sides the same: anything the player already reached stands, and anything he hadn't reached is voided for MORE and LESS alike.

What to check before you lock an entry

  • Is the pick on a full-game line? Partial-game lines (quarters, halves, periods, first five innings) usually aren't covered.
  • Is the sport and position covered? Defensive players, preseason and some college players are often excluded.
  • Did you make the pick live? Live picks made after the void window usually stand even if the player gets hurt later.
  • How small can the entry get? A void can shrink your entry or refund it if too few picks remain.

FAQ

Does a LESS pick win if the player gets hurt?

It depends on the app. Where protection covers only More picks, a Less pick is usually graded on the player's final stats. On Payday, a projection the player hadn't reached is voided for both MORE and LESS once the injury rule applies.

What if the player doesn't play at all?

On Payday, a pick on a player who doesn't play (DNP) is voided and the entry is rechecked. It plays on if it still has picks on at least 2 players from 2 teams; otherwise it's refunded.

Are first-half or first-quarter picks protected on Payday?

No. Injury protection applies only to full-game projections. A partial-game pick settles on the stats the player earned within that span.

Does Payday void MMA or Counter-Strike 2 picks for injuries?

No. Once an MMA fight or a CS2 match starts, picks stand, unless the fight is ruled a No Contest or the CS2 match is canceled before the first round.

Which college players are covered on Payday?

Only the players on Payday's protected lists for college football and college basketball, which are posted in the Payday help center and updated during the season.
