What happens if a player gets injured or doesn't play?

If a player is hurt early and doesn't return, unmet projections are voided and the rest stand. If a player doesn't play, the pick is removed and your entry is repriced.

Payday Fantasy · Product

If a player gets injured early in a game and does not return, Payday voids the projections they had not yet reached and keeps the ones they already hit. If a player does not play at all, the pick is voided rather than scored as a loss, it is removed from your entry, and the entry is repriced around the picks that remain. If too few valid picks are left, your entry fee comes back.

What happens if a player gets injured during the game?

Injury protection applies when a player leaves the game because of an injury during the first half (or the first period, depending on the sport) and does not return for the rest of the game. It covers injuries during active play that are beyond the player's or team's control.

It does not cover a player who is benched, rested or ejected for a reason other than injury. If the player comes back into the game at any point, even within the same half, the picks stand as normal.

Which picks are voided and which stand

When a player qualifies, Payday keeps every result that was already decided and voids only what could no longer be decided. Projections the player had already met or passed stay active, for both MORE and LESS. Projections the player had not reached are voided, for both MORE and LESS.

For example, a player leaves injured with 10 points. Picks on a line of 9.5 or 8.5 points stand, because the result is already known. A pick on 11.5 points is voided.

Live picks and partial-game projections

Live (in-game) picks follow the same rules, except a live pick made after the qualifying period has passed is not covered. Choose a live projection in the 3rd quarter, and if the player is injured later and does not return, the pick still stands.

Injury protection covers full-game projections only. Partial-game projections such as 1st quarter, 1st half, 2nd half, a single period or the first five innings have no injury protection: they settle on the stats the player earned within that span.

What counts as a DNP

Player participation is determined by official data feeds, which flag whether a player is active, inactive, ruled out or did not play. A pick is marked DNP when the player did not take part at all, when the game was canceled, when the game was postponed or suspended and not completed within 48 hours (36 hours for baseball), when a projection was clearly wrong, or when a system issue affected the board.

What happens to your entry

The voided pick is removed and the entry is recalculated on the picks that are left, using their multipliers. A four-pick entry with one DNP settles as a three-pick entry. That lowers the potential payout, but the entry stays live and remains eligible for both MAX and Flex payouts.

When a pick is voided, every projection on that player goes with it — MORE, LESS and any alternate lines.

Some picks work differently. A live (in-game) pick is action once it is accepted: it is not voided if the player sits out the rest of the game through a coach's decision, a blowout or rest. A CS2 pick stands once the player starts Map 1, even if they are subbed out later, and MMA has no injury void — once the fight starts, the picks stand unless the bout is ruled a No Contest.

When an entry is refunded

Every entry needs at least two active picks from at least two different teams. If voids take you below that, the whole entry is voided and refunded. A two-pick entry with one DNP and one tie comes back in full, and so does an entry where the picks left standing all turn out to be from the same team.

Ties work the same way

If a player finishes exactly on their projection, the pick is a tie. Ties are treated like DNPs: they count as neither a win nor a loss, they reduce the number of active picks, and they lower the potential payout rather than ending the entry.

Once voided, it stays voided

If a pick is voided on an official inactive or DNP designation, that decision is final. It is not reinstated or regraded even if the player later appears in the game, and it is not reversed by lineup changes or corrections issued afterwards.

How long settlement takes

Allow 10 to 20 minutes after a game finishes for results to update. Some markets settle later than that, including partial-game projections, CS2, golf, combat sports, soccer and tennis. Once an entry moves to Complete, the stats behind it are final.
